Human Resources Generalist

Department: 000 - Job Import Dept
Location: Remote

This is a 100% on-site role located at our ABA Center in Nashville, TN. The HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day non-clinical management of an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) center, with a primary focus on staffing, scheduling, employee relations, and operational efficiency. This role oversees a large team (50+ employees), including Behavior Technicians (BTs) and Center Support Specialist(s), ensuring appropriate coverage, strong employee engagement, and adherence to company policies.

The HR Generalist partners closely with the Director of ABA Services, who maintains responsibility for all clinical programming and quality of care. This role requires a strong people leader with deep employee relations expertise, capable of managing complex workforce dynamics in a fast-paced service environment.

What Would You Do:

  • Staffing & Scheduling Operations
    • Oversee daily staffing operations for a large team of BTs, ensuring appropriate coverage for all client appointments and center needs
    • Manage and optimize staff schedules, including real-time adjustments for callouts, cancellations, and coverage gaps
    • Lead new hire center orientation and ensure smooth onboarding and integration into the team
    • Monitor staffing metrics (e.g., utilization, attendance, cancellations) and ensure operational efficiency
  • Employee Relations & Team Management
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, resolving concerns with professionalism, discretion, and consistency
    • Coach, develop, and manage direct reports, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations
    • Foster a positive, accountable, and inclusive work environment that supports retention and engagement
    • Partner with HR on complex employee relations issues, investigations, and compliance matters
    • Lead and support a team of 50+ staff, including both direct and indirect reports
  • HR & Compliance Leadership
    • Ensure consistent application and enforcement of company policies, procedures, and employment practices
    • Support administration of HR processes including leave of absence, accommodations, workers’ compensation, and benefits coordination
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
    • Participate in investigations, disciplinary meetings, and documentation of employee performance issues
    • Maintain confidentiality and act with integrity in all HR-related matters
  • Operations & Facility Management
    • Oversee center operations including inventory, general workplace functionality, and coordination with the facility management team.
    • Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient environment for staff and clients
    • Coordinate with internal departments (HR, billing, IT, facilities) to resolve operational issues
    • Support planning and execution of center events, team-building activities, and community outreach
  • Communication & Leadership
    • Act as a key communication hub between leadership, staff, and support departments
    • Lead regular team meetings focused on operational updates, expectations, and engagement
    • Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency and team performance
    • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to staffing, attendance, and operations

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources or with relevant fast-paced employee relations fieldwork
  • 3+ years of experience in operations, leading large teams (50+ employees) required
  • Experience in similar service-based environments preferred
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership experience managing large teams (50+ employees) in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced employee relations and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to act independently
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and coaching skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to change and lead teams through organizational transitions
  • Proficiency with systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
